Lindroos and IWC Schaffhausen in Valtteri Bottas Duathlon
On August 18th 2019, Valtteri Bottas is hosting the third Valtteri Bottas Duathlon in the picturesque Pajulahti, Finland. The two-sport combination race of running and cycling is organized to raise funds for local charities. Lindroos is participating in the event with the official timekeeper and sponsor IWC Schaffhausen.
This year’s charity is dedicated to youngsters in Nastola, Valtteri’s hometown. The City of Lahti youth services and youth work in the Nastola region will receive EUR 15,000 and the amount is allocated to enable mobile youth work, to buy their own car. In the Nastola area, distances create challenges for youth work – one youth center cannot reaches everyone. We already had good experiences with the mobile youth car last summer. The Wauto car of the Walkers On Wheels project of the Children of the Station organization, reached over a thousand youngsters in Nastola area last summer.
“For a couple of years now, I’ve been thinking about a sports event of my own. My own way of life is athletic, and I am a big fan of sports. The event was chosen to be an off-road duathlon, and I definitely wanted it to take place in my home town, Nastola. The aim is to create a nice event with a relaxed atmosphere – not forgetting a decent competitive spirit. It would be great if formula one fans and people from Finland and abroad came to see where I’m from. Sports is such a great thing that I hope that this race, too, will encourage people to exercise more. The race will be a family event.”
Where I come from has always meant a lot to me. Nastola provides excellent opportunities for sports, and the location is excellent. I am happy to show where I’m from. I appreciate my roots.
Lindroos will be joining the duathlon again this year with an enthusiastic group of 15, including CEO Antti Keisu (in the middle).
