The Writers Edition is one of the most famous series of limited Montblanc writing instruments. Every year Montblanc chooses a famous writer and honors them for their art. The pen is made of black and white resin, a nod to the colors of the flags that flew over Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London, depending on the genre to be performed (black for tragedy and white for comedy). The pen’s guilloché engraving evokes the quills Shakespeare used to write his works, the clip ring represents the earring Shakespeare wore, and the cap depicts a bird’s-eye view of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. The gold band on the pen features embossed symbols from his seven most famous plays: a skull for Hamlet, chess pieces for King Lear, a rose and dagger for Romeo and Juliet, a shield for Henry V, a crown for Macbeth, a swirling cloud for The Tempest, and a laurel wreath in the shape of a “C” for Julius Caesar.
